Ming Asks Me To Write an Article!

World of Ming (worldofming.com), Kawklee/Yibby in particular, has asked me to write an article for their site. I have done as such, and I'd like as much input on it as possible. I went ahead and made an Angelfire page for it, just so people could get a better idea of the formatting.

I implore you to get real. Implementing this pile of new hunter abilities is just plain not going to happen. Get realistic in your thinking about buffing hunters in arenas.

It's fun to sit back and come up with a bunch of stuff that will let us dominate in arenas. But, you can't change lots of variables about a class and have any hope of them being balanced. What's far more useful is to come up with small tweaks that will allow us to be competive.

Dropping the DZ, and new pet abilities, with scaling for all abilities would go a long way towards fixing us.

Anyhow, keep fighting the good fight.

I'll have to agree with jay on this one. Blizzard isn't likely to introduce a pile of new abilities to balance hunters in arena. Tweaks to current abilities, and at most 1 new ability is a more realistic change.

Anyway, ability and gear scaling is a big issue that could be fixed. Trainable SS with a replacement talent would be welcome. Also, something to give us any sort of synergy with other classes would go a long way to improving our arena strength.

Out of all the abilities you suggested, blur is my favorite. I'd like to see a higher chance to avoid damage on it, along with a longer CD to balance it. Its a useful, unique ability that gives us another option in combat. Also, it gives readiness a much needed buff.

Btw, thanks for all the work trying to get blizzard to fix us. I'm looking for to your new blog.

I think you guys are missing the point. Just because hunters like Treisk and I have made tons of suggestions about fixing hunters doesn't mean we're expecting them to all happen. It means we're just suggesting a lot of possibilities.

Everyone has different perspectives on what will fix the hunter class in arenas. Blizzard isn't just going to take one idea we've had and use it. It's important for us to suggest as many ideas as possible for them to come up with the right combination of fixes that will truly make hunters a viable arena class.

I understand suggesting a lot of options and to have a few chosen, but the way treisk words his article, it does appear that he believes all the changes he mentioned should be implemented as a package in order to fix hunters.

He's got good ideas, and i appreciate all the work hes putting into helping get our class fixed, I'm just saying that this massive overhaul of new abilities isn't a likely direction for actual changes.

IMO you should focus more on our weaknesses that are present. I understand the desire to put forth ideas about hunter changes, but I don't think these fair well to non-hunter readers.

I honestly believe that a great deal of our problems would be solved with better pet scaling (crit, stam, and resilience), scaling traps and stings, with offensive/defensive traps on separate cooldowns.

I agree with the posters. I think your posts on the actual wow forums are more relevant than your article.
I saw you commented on Howitzer crit video. It shows the huge gap there is between Arena itemization and PvE and why scaling is not a good idea. Scaling abilities with the latest PvE gear would completely overpowers hunters. we need scpecific arena fixes. Trainable scatter shot is a good start. Deadzone shot would help too. And one thing i wanna see: No daze effects on Aspect of the cheetah, period.

I've been following your 'crusade' on the wow forums for a little bit now, just wanted to lend my support.

Some excellent ideas that you've presented in that post, while I think that they're excellent and give hunters OPTIONS (especially blur, a ranged class with no non-talented/trinket free reliable way of getting range?), I don't believe blizzard is going to implement anything outside of little bandaid fixes.
